About Great Sage
Great Sage is anything but common — featuring a bold menu inspired by exotic flavors from around the world, using organic ingredients to nourish the body, and providing a warm, earthy, yet romantic atmosphere perfect for any occasion. Great Sage seeks to provide the highest quality gourmet foods created from only plant-based sources.
Great Sage opened in June of 2004 as the third business to be added to the exciting new venture called, “Conscious Corner” in Clarksville, MD. Owners Jeff & Holly Kaufman and Jody Cutler began Conscious Corner in June of 2000 with Roots Market, an independent natural and organic market catering to the gourmet and natural foods enthusiast.
January 1st, of 2010, marked the beginning of Great Sage switching to an all vegan menu! With the addition of Chef Russell Svoboda, Great Sage was excited to bring in a fresh take on vegan cuisine. Still going strong and getting great feedback, the restaurant is always striving to reach new goals and surpass expectations.
Catering to dietary restrictions is no exception, gluten free dishes are a staple throughout the menu and Wednesdays are dedicated to gluten free specials.
Along with a mission for healthy eating, Great Sage is proud to support animal welfare. One Sunday out of every month the restaurant donates 10% of its daily sales to a vegan or animal rescue organization.
